Essays on Religion and Pop Culture
I characterize what I believe people mean when they use the terms 'woke' or 'wokeness'.
Do flat-earth believers really grasp the incredibly restrictive models one can
make to be consistent with both the flat earth hypothesis and the common
facts of observation? I don't think so.
I reply to AronRa's video
"Believers won't answer!", posted 27 July 2023. In it I give
my factual and rational reasons why I believe in Jesus and His Gospel.
Based on the prophecy of Thoth Hermes, Hancock foresees a very dark future
made by humanity, which he thinks can be prevented by humanity. I argue
somewhat differently: After the Great Tribulation will come the Millenial
Reign of Jesus.
This essay is a criticism of certain claims made by Richard Dawkins in his book
River out of Eden: A Darwinian View of Life, Basic Books, New York, 1995.
Back in 1977 or 1978, I saw a UFO drifting noiselessly over Phoenix, Arizona.
This is my recounting of my sighting that strange evening.
The
UFO acronym has recently been given a complement in UAP.
Here I compare and contrast them.
We do we really mean when we say that someone is 'overthinking' a problem or situation?
As a non-expert in the field of psychology, I can only give my opinion about it.
(People often overlook the obvious. --- Doctor Who)
I offer a partial checklist of what constitutes real salvation behavior and what
is hypocrisy that will send you to hell, and I do this with the example of how
the tens of millions of evil traitorous evangelicals have become by watching their
Satanic behavior during the murderous Capitol insurrection of Jan. 6. 2021. Ye shall
know them by their fruit.
Nofapp (or no self-sex) is considered to be a movement for males who feel burdened
by the desire to frennaq (mastur.) and wish to move away from it, possibly for good.
I discuss the movement, the public misperception of it, and what the Bible claims is
the real way to get the victory in this area of one's life:
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfil the
lust of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16 KJV)
Question: How many times should one let a self-proclaimed 'prophet of God'
get a prophecy wrong when they prophesy in the name of God or Jesus?
Answer: Exactly once! After that, kick the false prophet out of your congregation!
MGTOW is an acronym for Men Going Their Own Way. It is usually pronounced
as 'mig-tow' (rhymes with 'pig-cow').
In my opinion, the MGTOW movement is the most misunderstood movement in
recent American history. Almost every claim made by non-MGTOW people about
what really characterizes MGTOW is wrong. Of course, I'm referring to the majority
of MGTOW men, and not to the ornery fringe elements 'within the movement'.
Any man can call himself MGTOW, but that doesn't make it so.
I offer an unorthodox solution to the permanent quest for 'planet nine', which is
to stop looking for it. Just arbitrarily proclaim the 'planets' as fixed in number
at whatever number there were in 1980. That would make Pluto a planet again,
and permanently fix the list of planets. Then I introduce the new terms bolytar,
bolytary, and bolytology to augment the notions of planet, planetary, and planetology.
Pop Culture has always been a mixture of both good and bad elements to it,
but these days it seems to be far more harmful than beneficial. It's up to the
individual to navigate its dangerous waters carefully.
